Boostopia

Justin Winter co-founded Boostopia in Durham, North Carolina — a B2B SaaS platform that gave DTC customer-support managers the data and workflows to run support like a business function, not a cost center. Angel-backed by Jason Calacanis via LAUNCH.

The product

Boostopia sat on top of help-desk tools like Zendesk and Gorgias and turned raw ticket data into operational intelligence: agent performance, cost per contact, category trends, and the workflow structure to act on them. The thesis came directly from the Diamond Candles years — support was one of the biggest unmanaged line items in DTC, and the people running it had the least tooling in the company.

Customers & backing

The platform reached $25K MRR with more than 100 customers, including Allbirds, Bombas, Reformation, Peter Millar, and Supergoop. Boostopia was angel-backed by Jason Calacanis through the LAUNCH accelerator. Justin founded the company with Paul Davis and Mel Fisher-Wellman — both colleagues from the Diamond Candles team.

Coverage & the outcome

GrepBeat profiled the company in “Boostopia Makes Life Easier For Customer-Support Managers” (2020), and Justin discussed the build on School for Startups Radio. Boostopia found product-market fit but not venture-scale economics, and was ultimately wound down — the operating lessons from that chapter (support economics, workforce optimization, B2B SaaS go-to-market) now show up throughout Justin’s advisory work.
